There is something you can't see with the eyes ,you have to look with heart

In my school life I was very extroverted, so I would try to make friends with everyone. One new academic year, a lot of students changed classes to my class from different sections and from different schools.

One student caught my attention. She first looked like a spoiled brat who didn't care about her surroundings and made a bitchy face. Later I observed her more and found that she didn't look bratty but rather scared. She was very silent. She behaved like she wanted to make herself invisible. I don't know why but I got really interested to talk to her, making her a friend, and making her comfortable around us. Maybe I was curious why she was the way she was.

I would try to talk to her alone or maybe with one of my friend, by telling her jokes, annoying her and even talking about various topics with utmost freedom, without barriers. After numerous attempts she also started getting comfortable around the students. She made some friends. She really liked to hang out with me and my friends. Then she started to talk about her problems and why she acted the way she did. Her parents were divorced and later her mom died in an accident. Her mom's relatives said that they divorced because of her, that's why their daughter is dead. Later her dad remarried a woman who was very loving and caring in front of her father and very cruel behind his back. Sometimes her stepmom even made her starve. When she tried to tell her father, he didn't believe her and said that she was framing her stepmom because she didn't like her. In her previous school, she was treated as some cursed witch. She even got bullied by her classmates. She didn't have any friends in that school. She had a boyfriend too. He was very caring in the beginning. He was a support to her when she was low. But later he also started to get toxic. He started doubting her love and reminding her of her traumas.

The only person who loved her genuinely was her brother. He tried his best to protect her but because of his studies, he had to go to another state.

After her brother went to study, the bullying and her stepmom's behaviour, everything got worse. Because of all this she tried to commit suicide by jumping from a bridge to a river.

Thankfully nothing happened to her but her leg got injured. Nobody knew that she tried to commit suicide. Later, her dad got transferred to my place and all her family came here. That's how she took admission in my school.

I became sad because one of my friends, that too an innocent soul, went through such a devastating life. She still had some issues in her leg because of the injury and not tending to it properly. Sometimes it was really difficult for her to walk and climb up the stairs. We told her to go consult a doctor but she said ‘what if her doctor asks about how the injury happened and why she didn't take it seriously at the time, then she would have to tell them everything'. So she chose to stay silent and tolerate the pain.

After her school life, she also went to her brother's place to study. She told me that she talked to her brother about everything and he cried because of the guilt that he couldn't protect his sister and later took her to a hospital. Now she is very happy. She calls me sometimes to tell me about her life and to ask me about mine. One academic year she told me that she is very lucky to have a friend like me. If I didn't try so hard to be her friend or just didn't care about her, she would have gone crazy because of everything.

That student was the one who taught me that eyes can lie to us. If we want to know a person, talk to them, without judging, give them a shoulder to cry. And behind all smiley faces there will be someone who is begging for support, or a shoulder to cry their heart out.
